Where: Sheffield Vegan Festival, Cutler’s Hall, 7-15 Cutler’s Hall Church Street, Sheffield S1 1HG
When: 10th September 2017
I’ve been interested in going to a vegan fair for quite some time but hadn’t got myself to one, until now! It was bustling and full with goodies and treats and clothes and cosmetics and a yoga demo and charities and activists…I’m sure I missed something out. I have to admit I wasn’t so organised so was hesitant to post as I cannot remember the details of all the good people I bought things from, but I’m giving it a go anyway.
Almost an entire room was dedicated to cakes and treats, and after perusing pretty much all the stalls, I settled for some meringues, made from aquafaba. I have attempted this myself and failed miserably, so I was very impressed at these delicacies, peanut butter, banana and a raspberry flavour. By the time I’d got to Lockerbie they were screaming to be eaten so I shared them with my lovely parents, crunchy and gooey in the right places, we all picked a different one as our favourite.
I’d spotted Tyne Chease on a website a few months ago so it was a pleasant suprise to find them here with samples of their chease on the stall. Tyne Chease specialise in artisan organic cultured vegan chease with a cashew base. I was most struck by the Ethiopian Spice as something different with a strong taste.

The rest of my little haul included a sweatshirt from ‘Wear Your Voice‘. I needed a new sweatshirt (honestly!) and was struck by the holistic nature of Wear Your Voice who uses vegan inks and highly ethically rated base garments too.
Many other lovely things were eaten, experienced and seen, I’ll be more organised next time and make notes, I think I was just a bit giddy!
