I’m always intrigued by buffet restaurants, though I’ve not ventured inside a buffet restaurant for a long time, imagining there wouldn’t be much for vegans. The boyfriend had been telling me about this one here in Dundrum, we were tired and hungry and so I enquired if there was anything vegan. The lovely waiter took us in and showed us curries, spring rolls, noodles, sushi, spring beans, a whole range of things. So we were persuaded to give it a go.
Cantonese style mushrooms, delicious udon noodles, curried tofu, spring rolls, chips, all delicious, yet my greedy heart longed for sushi, too, as it had been mentioned. I was a bit confused that there wasn’t any vegan sushi out on the counter. So I asked a friendly waitress and she took me over to the sushi chef and asked her to make me some. The chef was incredible, whipped up a delicious set of sushi with tofu, avocado and cucumber in no time at all.
In my past experience buffets can be a bit hit and miss; the food might look like it’s been sat out for the whole day, poorly labelled, unable to discern ingredients, and eyes may be bigger than stomachs and, therefore, all you can eat for a certain price may not be such good value after all. My trip to Global surpassed all this, the food was delicious and fresh, there may not have been labels saying what was vegan or not but the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and were always on hand. The price was great considering the sushi I had, I’m sure I could have paid the price for just the sushi elsewhere. I know I’ve mentioned the staff before, but they really were exceptional, the cherry on the top! We’ll definitely be back for a treat.
