Cakes, delicious teas, healthy salads, imaginative comfort food and not an animal product in sight, what more could anyone ask for?! Completely vegan cafe Eat Street opened a mere couple of weeks ago, and already has a storm of positive feedback on social media, and as I discovered today all well deserved.
We started off with ‘Christmas tea’, a loose leaf tea, which we were told was like a mince pie in a cup. Fragrant and warming, it was lovely, and don’t be fooled by the pictures – the teapots aren’t small, the cups are gigantic!
Chilli cheese dog was the option that caught my eye, with aioli fries and coleslaw. The cheese dog was packed full of flavour; vegan cheese melting over mince and a sausage in a smokey tomato sauce with a subtle kick. The flavoursome aioli & fries and the garnish of coleslaw finished the dish off nicely. My friend went for a super food salad, which was filling yet healthy with quinoa, beetroot and beans.
Cakes and treats are supplied by local vegan bakers, there were mince pies, mini Christmas cakes, brownies, tiffins and even vegan dog treats. My friend bought me a mini Christmas cake which I’m trying to save ’til Christmas, but let’s be honest, it may not last the night.
It was so great to see the cafe really busy and I hope it continues to thrive.
