When: 13th January 2018

Cycling the small distance from The Giant’s Causeway to Portrush seemed like a bit of an expedition in high winds and soaking rain and panniers packed full of luggage, so I was glad to find a little cafe open at 9am when I arrived in the town.

A friendly member of staff was just preparing the wood burning stove and kindly offered to read the menu to me as my spectacles were waterstained with rain. I treated myself to a comforting hot chocolate with soya milk and a lovely gooey flapjack piled with cranberries and pumpkin seeds.

The view doesn’t disappoint, looking out over the beach and across the sea, and was a beautiful end to my first trip up to the north coast of Ireland.
