I was delighted and honoured to be bridesmaid at my sister’s wedding in Coventry, and after a beautiful ceremony at the medieval registry office, the reception was held at Withybrook Village Hall.
The organisers were lovely and accommodating and turns out the chef’s son was actually vegan too, so she was well informed and sensitive to the small group of vegans and vegetarians in the party. There was a lovely soup with fresh bread for a starter, followed by a lovely vegan take on a traditional Sunday Roast, we were served vegan ‘beef’ roast, home-made Yorkshire puddings, lovely fluffy roast potatoes, accompanied by a selection of seasonal vegetables and gravy.
Vegan dessert was made by yours truly, my second attempt at fondant fancies for myself and my dairy free niece, they actually turned out to be very tasty.
This was Withybrook Village Hall’s first wedding reception, they did extremely well to consult with us and cater for us vegans and vegetarians, and apart from that, in all other ways too, to make my sister and my brother-in-law’s wedding reception a beautiful night.
