Where: Corner Stone Pizza, 1B Winchester Street, Sherwood, Nottingham, NG5 4AH
When: 29th January 2018
Corner Stone Pizza is located in a refurbished shipping container, on the corner of the main road in Sherwood, just outside Nottingham city centre. They offer any of their vegetarian pizzas with vegan cheese. One of my bestest pals lives just down the road from this place and also being vegan, was excited to show me this place.
The pizzas here are made completely fresh, bases are hand-stretched and with a generous helping of vegan cheese. I enjoyed the aubergine, red onion and sriracha pizza with an extra helping of mushrooms, whilst my friends enjoyed one with roasted red peppers, red onion and chilli, and one with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and kale pesto.
I love pizza, and having been lucky enough to live in Sicilia for 7 months, I’ve had some pretty amazing pizza – the scaccione pizza from La Ruota (senza formaggi, senza carne e senza pesce, con tutti verdure per favori, grazie!) in Vizzini is my all time favourite from a restaurant ever, but enough reminiscing, back to the present and to Corner Stone! These pizzas are excellent, easily the best hand-made vegan pizza I’ve had in a restaurant in the UK, the big chains with their attempted vegan offerings have nothing on this place. The photos don’t do them justice due to the light. The bases were crispy, light and perfectly cooked, and as aforementioned, the toppings were generous, I can’t wait to come back here.
Oh and they also had a peanut butter and chocolate brownie for afters! Yum. And they do takeaway too.
