Where: Suki Jeh Ru Yi, 285 Soi Phraya Singhaseni, Bangkok, Thailand
When: 7th March 2018
Having been delayed at Pantip Plaza – initially the shop told us that the boyfriend’s new laptop would be ready in half an hour, this turned into over 2 hours in the end, so we missed our bus to Chiang Mai. A madcap tuk tuk ride across Bangkok to the train station we managed to get train tickets, I love travelling by train so I was happy.
A short 5 minute walk from Hua Lamphong train station we discovered Suki Jeh Ru Yi, a vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant was full and with locals and tourists alike. We managed to get a table outside and took a look at the menu, there are some dishes with egg but these are reasonably easy to discern. Not usually a fan of mock meat, I went for the ‘vegetarian duck’ dish. The ‘duck’ was cooked in a peanut based sauce, it had a tougher texture and was an interesting change on preparing tofu.
The restaurant is very convenient for the train station and has an extensive menu, definitely recommend seeking it out, especially if you’re in the area already.
