Totally vegan cafe in Kilkenny, yes please! The Cutting Vedge (formerly Helen Costelloe’s Healthy Choices), is a lovely little vegan cafe in the lovely city of Kilkenny, not two minutes walk from the castle. Open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturdays 10am – 5pm.

The menu includes breakfast options, spelt pizzas, nut roasts, falafel and juices. They also have daily specials with lovely fresh, seasonal and local vegetables. On the day of my visit the options were Indian style quinoa and potato or lentil and vegetable goulash, which I had, it was served with delicious home-made coleslaw and potatoes. It was chock-full of fresh vegetables, served with a vegan pesto and was full of flavour. Top notch.

It didn’t seem right not to try some cake and coffee too. There was a range of freshly made cakes, I went for coconut and lemon drizzle cake, it was light and fluffy, great texture complemented by the refreshing lemon-y fondant. A range of plant milks are on offer for coffee too.
I can’t wait to come back here and try the rest of the menu! Check out their Facebook here.
