When: 14th – 15th July 2018

Where: Carrigeen Glamping Carrigeen, Johnswell, County Kilkenny, R95 D935, Ireland

For our anniversary, we had been looking to have a nice night away together somewhere, and we came across Carrigeen Glamping. It was our first time glamping, I’d normally be a proper tent preferring woman and he’d be a luxury hotel fan, so glamping seemed like a good compromise. Neither of us were quite sure what to expect, but we were both utterly blown away by the amazing welcome, accommodation and vegan friendliness.

When we arrived Marsha came to meet us and showed us around – as well as the glamping pod with our own private toilet and sink, there is a lovely large dining space (with gorgeous paintings of the donkeys), shared kitchen and shower room. There are just two pods so it still felt very private and quiet. Our pod itself was beautifully laid out and decorated, with a comfy double bed and plenty of space around too.

Complementary treats in the pod were all vegan; Magic Mayan bar – delicious raw chocolate made in Ireland, and a Vego bar – dark chocolate with hazelnut. Marsha had also gone out of her way to get us Booja Booja vegan ice cream too.

After a peaceful evening and a nice dinner in Kilkenny city, only 10 minutes drive away,

we slept well in the comfortable pod. We went to the dining room and waiting for us in a basket was our breakfast and it was divine! There was amazing vegan home-made scones, jam, yoghurt compote with fresh berries, breakfast cereal, orange juice and coconut milk and coffee. It was the perfect breakfast for a lazy, peaceful Sunday morning in the countryside.

A veritable vegan feast of a breakfast, including delicious home-made scones

We hadn’t noticed anywhere that Carrigeen Glamping was advertising itself as especially vegan friendly, so for us it was a really lucky find. Especially since the owner is making the transition to veganism herself too! I can imagine we will definitely come back to Carrigeen Glamping some day, it was perfect. Thank you Carrigeen!
