Wholesome is a fantastic independent health-food shop in Carlisle’s indoor market. Their impressive stock includes food, toiletries and cleaning products. Although not exclusively vegan, their stock is usually mostly vegan-friendly and includes many organic and eco-conscious products. Including items I’ve found it hard to find in other places except online, for example recycled washing up sponges and vegan dental floss.
Staff are welcoming, friendly and know their products. They stock vegan cheese including Sheese and Violife, Booja Booja ice-cream, nutritional yeast, chocolate including Vego bars, vegan peanut butter cups and moo-free chocolate. They stock a large range of Suma products, kombucha, herbs and spices, herbal teas, different flours. Bamboo toothbrushes, UK made soaps and toiletries.
Simply put, it’s a comprehensive shop with great specialised products, great for vegans and health and environmental conscious consumers.
