Hello! So nice to meet you and thank you for reading! I’m Fiona, aka The Greedy Herbivore. I currently live in Dublin, Ireland with my vegan partner, and have been here since late 2018.
The blog
I was inspired to start a blog in September 2017 after experiencing thoughtful vegan food being prepared for me when eating out. I wanted to celebrate this and share as inspiration and encouragement to others embarking on veganism. Since these beginnings, I have been inspired to share other experiences; recipes, travelling, zero waste and sustainable items and others.
Vegan for the animals

I committed to veganism on the 1st December 2014. My main inspiration was for the animals, for their health, wellbeing and to end their exploitation. As I carried on with my journey and I learned more about the environmental impact animal agriculture has, this was extra motivation and opened my mind as everything seemed to fit together. You can read about my journey to veganism here on this blog post I wrote. The following is a more general, short autobiography, to give you a little idea of who I am, and where I’m coming from.
My life so far
I was born in 1986 and grew up in a town in West Yorkshire, England, in which I stayed until 21, studying Fine Art at the University there, and afterwards founding a local arts organisation whilst working many odd jobs. Since I was a young teenager, an artist is all I wanted to be!

I visited Nepal in 2013, volunteering in a school helping out with art workshops. This set in motion a series of flashpoints that inspired me to change the way I was living and approaching life. I committed to being vegetarian again just before going to Nepal, started meditating and reintroduced yoga into my life, and 8 months later turned to veganism. I quit my jobs, my painting studio and got rid of a flat-load of possessions and moved to Malta and Sicily to do EVS conservation volunteering for almost a year.

After this ended, I went to Scotland to live with my parents short term whilst looking for a job, but ended up working at a local care home there for a year whilst studying Environmental Studies and Biology.
I wanted to get back to getting my hands dirty again so I left the care home, to do some WWOOFing and some soul searching in Northern Ireland and then visited Thailand for a month. I went on to do an internship on an organic vegetable farm in Kilkenny, Ireland, for 6 months. When this came to an end, I moved to Dublin, where my partner is and did some office temping for a while.
I now have a full time office job in a lovely company with incredible colleagues, here in Dublin. Around this I enjoy growing food on my balcony and in the community garden next door, travelling, ecology, yoga, Buddhism, reading, writing, watching sci-fi, and generally trying to live a more sustainable, mindful, compassionate life. I feel blessed and grateful to have the experiences I’ve had, as well as incredible friends and family.
With Love and Peace,
Fiona
