Yorkshire
- Duchniak’s Polish Restaurant, 212-214 Kirkgate, Wakefield, WF1 1UF – Friendly polish cuisine, owner and staff have a good understanding of veganism and happy to advise, lovely vegan options.
- 387 Ormeau Road, 387 Ormeau Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT7 3GP – Vegan cafe with a well-stocked retail section, serves good selection of breakfast and lunch options with a regular programme of events
- Eat Street, 231 Lisburn Road, Belfast, BT9 7EN – Vegan restaurant with amazing menu with hearty options and cakes from local vegan bakers
- The Vegan Rocket, Penny Square, Haslem’s Lane, Lisburn, Northern Ireland – vegan stall in Penny Square, covered outdoor seating, friendly service, vegan desserts, burgers, kebabs. Also does external catering
- The Skinny Kitchen, 93 Boucher Road, Belfast, BT12 6HR – Chain focussed on clean eating, some good healthy vegan options including lovely vegan brunch option and soups
- Koko, 2 Castle Erin Road, Portrush, BT56 8DH – Friendly coffee shop overlooking the beach, soya milk for hot drinks and fresh vegan flapjack, plans to expand their current vegan offerings
- The Smuggler’s Inn, 306 Whitepark Road, Bushmills, County Antrim BT57 8SN – Friendly nautical themed inn and restaurant with great staff and some vegan options on their menu including starters and dessert, plant milk for hot drinks, excellent value for money
- Froth Coffee Co, 8 Central Promenade Newcastle County Down BT33 0AA – Coffee shop with plant milk options
- The Willows Cafe, 13 Church Street, Warrenpoint, BT34 3HN – Local bakery and cafe with delicious home-made Guinness wheaten bread and happy to amend breakfast to make it vegan
Dumfries & Galloway
- The Dragonfly, 11 Main Street, Auchencairn, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland – Vegetarian and vegan cafe in the Old Smugglers Inn pub, attached to Galloway Holistic Retreats. Food is wholesome and healthy, mostly vegan including vegan desserts, gluten free options, fully licensed with all vegan alcohol menu.
- Mrs Green’s Tea Lounge, 16 Queensberry Street, Dumfries, Scotland, DG1 1EX – Retro and vintage tea room, separate vegan menu with sandwiches and salads, plant milk for hot drinks and usually at least one vegan cake
- The Stove, 100 High Street, Dumfries, Scotland, DG1 2BJ – Cafe and community space set up in an artists’ studio complex. Has plant milk for drinks and stocks cakes from local vegan baker Beets and Treats
Glasgow
- Non Viet, 536 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3LX – Vietnamese restaurant, traditional pho and other vegan options including starters
- Stereo Cafe Bar, 22-28 Renfield Lane, Glasgow, G2 6PH – Busy vegan restaurant with comprehensive selection of starters, mains and desserts
Perthshire
- The Broch Cafe, Strathyre, Callander, FK18 8NA – Small cafe with plant milk for hot drinks
- Deli Ecosse, 10 Ancaster Square, Callander, FK17 8ED – Health food shop with thriving cafe, delicious breakfasts
Connacht
- Food for Thought, 5 lower Abbeygate St, Galway City – Vegetarian cafe usually with a vegan main and vegan cake
- The Kitchen Cafe, Galway City Museum, Spanish Parade, Galway, H91 CX5P – Cafe with good vegan and vegan & coeliac friendly options on their breakfast, brunch and lunch menus and cake.
- TGO Falafel Bar, 11 Mary St, Galway, H91 T227 – Vegetarian falafel bar, mostly vegan options including desserts and daily specials
- The Secret Garden, 4 William St West, Galway City – Tea House and Garden with extensive selection of loose leaf teas and good selection of vegan cakes and treats
Leinster
- Bassett’s Restaurant, Marsh’s street, Thomastown, Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland – Restaurant, on my visit the soup of the day was vegan and one dish on the main menu that could be adapted to be vegan, a few side dishes that are vegan
- The Candied Hazelnut, 11 O’Connell St, Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland – Completely vegan, gluten free and peanut free cafe with extensive menu including breakfast, daily specials and desserts
- The Cutting Vedge, 1-9 Ormonde St, Gardens, Kilkenny, R95 WTK3 – Completely vegan cafe in Kilkenny, using local suppliers as much as possible, fresh food, breakfast, lunch, main meals, cakes and coffee
- Cornucopia, 19-20 Wicklow Street, Dublin – Popular and well established vegetarian cafe with a great selection of vegan main courses, some cakes and teas
- Global Cuisine World Food Buffet, CSA 2m Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 16 – World food buffet restaurant with a good selection of vegan options, always ask the server what they are as they can change
- Nuts About Nature, Blackrock Market, 19a Main Street, Blackrock, County Dublin – Independent vegan baker specialising in raw and healthy desserts with a regular stall in Blackrock Market
- Studio and Press, Market Street, Thomastown, County Kilkenny, Ireland – Irish Design and Craft shop with cafe providing vegetarian and vegan options, usually at least one vegan cake and a good selection of coffee and tea
- Token, 72-74 Queen Street, Smithfield, Dublin 7 – Retro arcade with vegan options on their gourmet fast food menu, tasty, on the expensive side, a fun place to go if you like retro arcade machines
- Truffle Fairy, Kilkenny Farmer’s Market, The Parade, Collegepark, Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland – Chocolate cafe, with a good selection of vegan chocolates alongside dairy ones, spiced hot chocolates with a selection of plant milks and other vegan treats including flapjacks and a raw cacao slice
Munster
- Momo Restaurant, 47 Patrick Street, Waterford, County Waterford, Ireland – Award winning restaurant, good vegan and vegetarian options, emphasis on local suppliers
Bangkok
- Ethos, 85/2 Tanao Road, Banglumpoo, Bangkok, Thailand – Mostly vegan menu, vegetarian restaurant, amazing breakfast options – vegan and gluten free pancakes, extensive lunch and dinner menu too including vegan burgers
- Golden Mountain Coffee, Khwaeng Ban Bat, Khet Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10100, Thailand – refreshing Thai Coffee halfway up a beautiful temple
- Heap, 290/4 Phaya Thai Road, Bangkok, Thailand – friendly bar and restaurant serving until late with a few vegan friendly options on the menu
- Ken Cafe, 3rd Floor, 604/3 Thanon Petchaburi, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand – Small cafe on the 3rd floor of Pantip Plaza, nice iced teas, beware the broad beans and other such snacks in green packaging – some contain lactose
- Mango Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant, 13 Tanow Road borvonnivaj phanakorn, Bangkok, Thailand – Vegetarian and vegan restaurant serving traditional Thai and creative Western dishes
- May Kaidee’s, 59 Tanao Road, Bang-lam-phu, Bangkok, Thailand – Vegan and Vegetarian Thai Restaurant, with a few other outlets across Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai, along with running cooking schools. Delicious vegan and veg Thai dishes
- Naifhun, 10 Na Phra Lan Road, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, Thailand – cafe across the road from The Grand Palace, nice vegan friendly drinks and traditional Thai dishes
- Suki Jeh Ru Yi, 285 Soi Phraya Singhaseni, Bangkok, Thailand – completely vegetarian restaurant a short walk from the main railway station in Bangkok. Menu centres primarily on mock meats.
- Asian Corner, Suvarnabhumi Airport, 999 1 Nong Prue, Amphoe Bang Phli, Chang Wat Samut Prakan 10540, Thailand – A sign declaring vegetarian options, I found the food disappointing and overpriced
- Vegetarian Healthy Foods, 588 Thanon Kamphaeng Phet 2, Bangkok 10900, Thailand – Completely vegetarian kiosk in the food section of JJ Mall, near Chatuchak Station. Great pad thai and rice dishes at bargain prices – between 45 – 60 bhat
Chiang Mai
- Amrita Garden, 2/1 Samlan Soi 5, Chiang Mai, Thailand – Vegan cafe in the old city of Chiang Mai, lovely outdoor seating, thai food, macrobiotic and a small retail area too
- May Kaidee’s Cooking School and Restaurant, 29/4 Chang Moi Kao Road, Chang Moi, Chiang Mai 50300, Thailand – vegetarian and vegan cooking school and restaurant, began in Bangkok with outlets there too. Delicious tradition thai dishes, including desserts
- Pun Pao Steamed Buns, Arak Soi 5 and Inthawarorot Rd, Chiang Mai, Thailand – Steamed bun shop, excellent selection of vegan savoury and sweet filled steamed buns, labelled with the yellow ‘jai’ symbol. Friendly helpful staff too
- Taste From Heaven, 34/1 Ratmakka Road, Amphoe Muang, Chiang Mai, Thailand – Completely vegan cafe serving a large range of dishes including delicious home-made brownie and ice cream
- The Falafelist, 17/1 Moonmuang soi 7, Chiang Mai, Thailand – falafel based restaurant, mostly vegan and vegetarian dishes and extensive selection of smoothies and blended juices
- Thai Curry, Ploen Ruedee Night Market, Chang Klan Road, Amphoe Muang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, Thailand – stall at the hip and lively Plen Ruedee Night Market, nice vegan rolls
Koh Phayam
- Baan Nam Cha, Ao Yai Road, Koh Phayam, Thailand – Mostly vegetarian Burmese and European fusion restaurant, expect relaxed service from friendly staff, hammocks and reggae music
- Cha chai Home, Ao Yai Road, Koh Phayam, Thailand – Completely vegetarian restaurant near Buffalo Bay, extensive menu, many many vegan options and environmentally aware. Very clear menu and ordering system
- Hippy Bar, Aow Kao Kwai, Buffalo Bay, Koh Phayam, Thailand – relaxed bar serving nice juices and smoothies at the top of end of Buffalo Bay. Food menu not very vegan friendly though there are vegetarian dishes. The bar is set in a structure that resembles an old ship, and provides beautiful views of the bay, it’s worth a visit along the peaceful beach for this alone
- Koh Co, Kao Yao, Ko Phayam, Koh Phayam, Thailand – Completely vegan ice cream at the crossroads near the middle of the island. Open early for breakfast, also serves sticky rice and ice cream in a bun, lots of options for sprinkling on ice cream
- Osteria del Tempo Perso, Koh Phayam, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong 85000, Thailand – Restaurant run by an Italian lady creatively coming up with Italian dishes with a twist to incorporate locally grown foods such as cashews that grow so abundantly on the island
- Rasta House, 1/3 Moo 1, . Ko Payam Muang Tambon Ko Phayam, Ko Phayam 0, Thailand – Small friendly bar near the south side of Buffalo Bay, some vegan friendly dishes on the select menu using fresh vegetables and plant milks
Koh Samui
- Funky Vege Cafe, 105/8 M.6, T.Maret, Lamai, Ko Samui – Completely vegan cafe, run by a lovely lady ‘Jojo’. There’s a mix of thai and western dishes, bamboo straws and an ethical and eco vibe
- Kobori Japanese Restaurant, 183/4 Moo1, Maenam, Koh Samui, Suratthani 84330, Thailand – Sushi restaurant in Mae Nam area, with a few vegan options, very generous portions
- Lamai Veggie, 138/14 Moo 4 Maret, Lamai, Koh Samui, Thailand, 84310 – Completely vegan cafe with a set daily changing menu, delicious tea and dessert. Also takeaway home-made vegan burgers and sausages available
- Prava Bar, 171 moo 1, Maenam Walking Street, Amphoe Koh Sa-Mui, Surat Thani, Thailand – Mostly vegan and vegetarian restaurant, tradition Thai dishes, juices and smoothies
- The Radiance Restaurant, The Spa Resort, 171/2 Moo 4, Lamai Beach, Maret, Koh Samui 84310, Thailand – Restaurant attached to a spa complex, at the upper end of Lamai beach. Menu is extensive and caters for many conscious diets and has an extensive key to help too. Nice traditional thai dishes with a twist
Koh Tao
- La Carotte Qui Rit, 6/16 Mae Haad (at Pier main road), Koh Tao, Thailand – Completely vegetarian restaurant, vegan sushi and vegan versions of traditional Thai dishes
Pak Song
- Eco-Logic Yoga Retreat, 71/2 M4 Bahn Paksong, Amphur Phato, Changwat Chumpon, 86180 Thailand – Beautiful ecologically minded yoga retreat and resort, restaurant serves Thai food, with an emphasis on sourcing locally grown ingredients, especially from their own vegetable garden and foraging from around the surrounding rainforest. Not fully vegan, occasionally some fish, but very vegan friendly and vegan aware staff
Ranong
- Kiwi Orchid & PL Guesthouse, 96/19-20 Moo1 Phetkasem Road, Muang District, 85000 Ranong, Thailand – Guesthouse, cafe and tourist information, right by the bus station, really friendly staff who’ll be happy to help you with lots of things. Nice simple food here, vegetarian and vegan friendly
