When: 1st July 2018
Where: The Secret Garden, 4 William St West, Galway, County Galway, Ireland
The Secret Garden is a lovely tea house in Galway City centre. There are many blends of loose leaf tea to choose from and helpful staff to advise what to go for, if you’re feeling like something sweet, spicy or tangy. I went for a blend called ‘Heaven’s Gate’ which included fermented sencha, a Japanese green tea.
Alongside their lovely tea selection and ceramics display, were a great selection of vegan and dairy free cakes. A vegan, raw, berry and coconut cheesecake caught my eye; delicious, tangy and rich, it complemented my tea perfectly.
Not only is it a spot to grab lovely tea and cake (and shisha if you’re into that sort of thing), it has a nice ethos and ambience – they hold workshops, art exhibitions and gigs, and one of my favourite little details; they have a point of having no wi-fi! There’s a nice outdoor seating area in the garden, of course, as well as relaxed seating indoors. I also love the cheeky sign (see picture above) that is sometimes out on the street.
What a brilliant treat, I imagine it would be perfect for a birthday celebration or other events, too. I look forward to returning to try more of their teas and cakes.
