We ate really well in Ronda and Moalboal, we found some unexpected delights, healthy items, vegan twists on Filipino cuisine and simple, delicious, home-cooked dishes. We also had some great vegan food when we went on our guided canyoneering in Kawasan Falls where we were taken somewhere for lunch at a lovely local spot, I didn’t have my camera with me though!
Les Maisons D’Itac, Ronda

Santa Cruz Rd, Ronda, 6034 Cebu, Philippines
We stayed in the beautiful Les Maisons D’Itac in their Maison Ulysse, we were so well looked after even in the drama of a dramatic storm – which I’ll talk about in my next post. We had breakfasts and a few dinners here and they were delicious and fresh. For breakfast we had the options of fresh fruits – mango, watermelon and pineapple, rice, toast, peanut butter, jam and fresh fruit juices.

For dinner we had options of vegetable sauté or vegetable curry, both were delicious.
Hungry Monkeys, Moalboal
Panagsama Beach Basdiot, Moalboal, Cebu

Omni restaurant with an incredible view and a great selection of vegan and vegetarian versions of traditional Filipino dishes at extremely reasonable prices starters for around 150 php and mains around 220 php. We had a selection of dishes here, started off with vegetable spring rolls.

We had tofu sisig, adobong talong – aubergine version of traditional chicken adobo, mushroom sisig. It was really nice to have so many different options with vegetables rather than faux meat substitutes. I really enjoyed all of them, I couldn’t pick a favourite!
Achille Restobar
Panagsama Beach, Moalboal, 6032 Cebu

We had a quick stop here, to duck out of the rain and wait for a second moped from our lovely moped hire place. I spotted a few vegan options marked on the menu – seasonal salad, vegetable chop suey, eggplant with spicy garlic sauce. I went for the latter, it was delicious but very spicy!
JM Shawarma
Gaisano Mall, National Hwy, Moalboal, 6032 Cebu

For one of the days, I had a bit of a cold so I hibernated in the room and panicked about covid (it definitely wasn’t covid!) whilst Oliver went to get some lunch and came back with a vegan shawarma wrap from JM Shawarma. We’d spotted this in the mall after we were looking for some supplies. It was really nice and surprising to find!
Smooth Café Moalboal
Panagsama Rd, Moalboal, 6032 Cebu

For our Christmas dinner, we went for burgers at Smooth Café. I had fancied the adobo lami kayo burger made of banana blossom! However, they didn’t have that available, so I chose the Gangnam Style burger – sweet potato burger with a side of kimchi. Yummy! Oliver went for the falafel burger, we were both pleased with our choices. He also had a fancy coffee that looked like an espresso martini, very nice!
